Apropos my first post, lets put a gadget to a healthy use. These days you may come across so many people fighting flab or you maybe even one of them as I am (or was, as I would like to believe). Not everybody is successful in loosing weight and those handful who are successful soon find it difficult to retain the lost pounds as the time passes and the zeal simmers down. Everybody who needs to loose or maintain weight requires to log the weight regularly so as to keep the fitness plan on track. Logging your weight acts as a great motivational factor and keeps you going on with your resolution of loosing and then maintaining weight. In my example, I started logging my daily calories in an iPhone app, LoseIt (a wonderful app for weight watchers), and logged my weight initially in the same app and then also in another iphone app, Weightbot. But many a times, I forgot to log my weight in and this resulted gaps in my logs. It was then that I found about Withings Body Scale
and boy, was I excited. I would never need to remember to log my weight. A scale with wifi built in? Wow! (Of course, wifi availability is a must for anybody even thinking of digitizing his or her life. It's elementary, My Dear Watson!) It is sexy looking body scale made of glossy glass which has a built in wifi which automatically transfers your data to Withing's server. It also records BMI and Fat Mass. You can then check out all the data on the Withing's website or alternatively and more conveniently on a free iPhone app or Android app. The apps show daily data as well as graphical charts of your weight, fat mass and lean mass over time. They also allow you to set objectives for weight loss. Now you can just get up in the morning, get on the Withing's Scale and get on with your life without having to worry about logging your weight data. Moreover, it can register up to 8 users and can recognize them automatically as they get on it. The data can then be automatically shared with many services like Google Health, Microsoft Health Vault and apps like LoseIt and Weightbot. But why did I say "embarrassingly so" initially? Because the Scale can automatically post your data with your defined objectives to your Twitter feed! Cool! It would surely motivate people who know that their weight is going to be transmitted on world wide web and it is really embarrassing to have your friends or followers make fun of you if you are not sticking to your goals. An "embarrassing" motivation factor, isn't it? Though, if you are like me who doesn't like being embarrassed, you can always switch off the option.
